Understanding Domain Status Codes

  • Active Codes (Green): ok - the domain is active with no restrictions. This is the normal state for an actively used domain. inactive - the domain has no nameservers configured and cannot resolve to a website.
  • Protective Codes (Red): clientTransferProhibited,clientDeleteProhibited, clientUpdateProhibited, and clientRenewProhibited are registrar-level locks that prevent unauthorized transfers, deletions, updates, or renewals. These are normal for active domains and help prevent domain hijacking. Server-level versions (prefixed with server) are set by the registry and are more restrictive.
