Why Strong PINs Matter

  • Length matters: A 4-digit PIN has 10,000 combinations (≈13.3 bits). A 12-digit PIN has 1 trillion (≈39.9 bits).
  • Avoid patterns: Common PINs like 1234, 0000, and 2580 make up a significant percentage of all PINs used worldwide.
  • No repeated digits: PINs with all the same digit (1111, 9999) are among the most commonly used and easily guessed.
  • Birthday risk: Avoid PINs that match birth months/days or years - one of the most common guessing strategies.

Why Use Our PIN Generator?

Generate secure, random PINs that avoid common patterns and weaknesses used by attackers.

01

Configurable PIN Length

Choose from 4 to 12 digits. Longer PINs provide exponentially more combinations - a 12-digit PIN has over 1 trillion possible values compared to just 10,000 for a 4-digit PIN.

02

Smart Pattern Avoidance

Automatically skip sequential numbers (1234, 9876), repeated digits (1111, 1212), and hundreds of common weak patterns including birth years, keyboard walks, and popular codes.

03

Bulk Generation & Export

Generate 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 PINs at once. Copy individual PINs or all at once, and download the full list as a plain text file for easy distribution.

04

Entropy & Strength Analysis

Each PIN shows its strength rating (Weak, Medium, Strong) with a score out of 100. View aggregate statistics including average entropy bits and the proportion of strong PINs generated.

About PIN Security & Our Generator

Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) are a cornerstone of digital security, used billions of times daily across banking, mobile devices, and access control systems.

What Makes a PIN Secure?

A PIN’s security depends primarily on its length and randomness. A 4-digit PIN has only 10,000 possible combinations, which an attacker can exhaust in minutes with automated guessing. A 12-digit PIN has 1 trillion combinations — making brute-force attacks impractical. However, even long PINs are weakened by common patterns. Studies show that 1234, 0000, 1111, 2580, and 1212 account for nearly 20% of all PINs in use. Our generator avoids these patterns, along with sequential runs, repeated digits, birth year patterns, and hundreds of other known weak combinations, ensuring every generated PIN is genuinely random and resistant to guessing attacks.

How Our PIN Generator Works

  1. Set PIN Length: Choose between 4 and 12 digits using the slider. Longer PINs provide exponentially more security.
  2. Configure Filters: Toggle pattern avoidance options to skip sequential numbers, repeated digits, and common weak patterns. All three are enabled by default for maximum security.
  3. Choose Quantity: Select how many PINs to generate in one batch — from a single PIN up to 100 at once.
  4. Copy or Download: Click any individual PIN to copy it, copy all PINs at once, or download the complete list as a text file.

Common PIN Vulnerabilities to Avoid

  • Sequential numbers: 1234, 5678, 9876 — these are the first patterns attackers try. Our generator skips all sequential ascending and descending patterns.
  • Repeated digits: 1111, 2222, 1212 — PINs with mostly the same digit or simple repeating patterns are highly predictable and commonly used.
  • Common patterns: 2580 (vertical keyboard column), 0852 (year-based), 2000-2099 (birth years) — our tool checks against an extensive list of hundreds of known weak PINs.
  • Personal information: Birthdays, anniversaries, addresses, and phone number fragments — never use dates or numbers that can be discovered through social engineering.
  • Dictionary PINs: Some PINs correspond to words on a telephone keypad (e.g., 5683 = LOVE) — these can be guessed through social context.

Privacy, Security & Availability

Our PIN Generator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript’s Math.random(). PIN generation is 100% local — no PINs are sent to any server, logged, or stored. We cannot see your generated PINs, and neither can anyone else. No account, no signup, and no tracking. The tool is 100% free to use with no usage limits. For applications requiring cryptographically secure PINs, we recommend using a dedicated password manager or hardware security module.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our PIN Code Generator.

From 4 digits up to 12 digits. The slider lets you choose any length in between. Longer PINs are exponentially more secure - each additional digit multiplies the number of possible combinations by 10.

Three filters are available: Avoid sequential numbers (skips ascending/descending runs like 1234, 9876), Avoid repeated digits (skips PINs where the same digit appears too frequently like 1111, 1212), and Avoid common patterns (skips hundreds of known weak PINs including birth years, keyboard patterns, and popular codes from data breach analyses).

Choose from preset batch sizes: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 PINs per generation. Each PIN is unique within its batch and checked against the active filters.

The strength score (out of 100) considers PIN length and whether any filters were triggered. PINs 8+ digits with no pattern flags score 80+ (Strong). Shorter PINs or those with pattern issues score lower. Entropy is calculated as log₂(10^length) in bits.

PINs are generated using JavaScript's Math.random() with rejection sampling against active filters. For most applications this provides sufficient randomness. For cryptographic or high-security use, consider a dedicated hardware security module.

The common patterns database includes hundreds of entries from published PIN security research, including data breach analyses, keyboard patterns like 2580, date patterns, and the most frequently used PINs across banking and mobile devices.
