Understanding ACFT Scoring
What is the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)?
The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the U.S. Army's official physical fitness assessment that replaced the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). The ACFT consists of 6 events designed to measure a soldier's physical readiness for combat: the 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Standing Power Throw (SPT), Hand-Release Push-ups (HRP), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), Plank (PLK), and the Two-Mile Run (2MR). Each event is scored on a 0-100 point scale based on gender and age group standards published in FM 7-22 Holistic Health and Fitness. Our ACFT calculator uses these official scoring tables to compute your standardized scores instantly.
How Our ACFT Calculator Works
- Enter Your Demographics: Select your gender and enter your age in the ACFT calculator. The tool automatically determines your age group (17-21 through 62+) and applies the correct scoring standards from the official ACFT tables.
- Input Event Performances: Enter your performance for each of the 6 ACFT events: MDL (lbs), SPT (meters), HRP (reps), SDC (seconds), PLK (seconds), and Two-Mile Run (seconds or minutes). The ACFT calculator accepts decimal values for precise measurements.
- Instant Score Calculation:Click “Calculate ACFT Score” and the tool instantly computes your score for each event using linear interpolation between standard breakpoints. All calculations happen locally in your browser - your data stays private.
ACFT Events and Scoring Criteria
- 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL): Measures lower body and core strength. The soldier performs 3 repetitions of the maximum weight possible on a hex bar. Higher weight equals higher score. Minimum passing standard varies from 40-140 lbs depending on age and gender.
- Standing Power Throw (SPT): Measures explosive power. The soldier throws a 10lb medicine ball backward overhead as far as possible. Greater distance equals higher score.
- Hand-Release Push-ups (HRP): Measures upper body endurance. The soldier performs as many hand-release push-ups as possible in 2 minutes. More reps equals higher score.
- Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC): Measures anaerobic endurance and agility. The soldier completes a 50-meter shuttle with a sled drag, lateral shuffle, and kettlebell carry. Faster time equals higher score.
- Plank (PLK): Measures core muscular endurance. The soldier holds the plank position for as long as possible. Longer hold time equals higher score.
- Two-Mile Run (2MR): Measures aerobic endurance and cardiovascular fitness. The soldier runs 2 miles as fast as possible. Faster time equals higher score.
ACFT Classifications and Standards
The ACFT total score ranges from 0 to 600 points (100 per event, 6 events). Soldiers must score a minimum of 60 points on each event to pass the ACFT. Total score classifications are: Gold (540-600) - the highest standard, Silver (480-539), Bronze (420-479), Pass (360-419), and Not Pass (0-359). The ACFT scoring tables in our ACFT calculator follow the official age and gender-differentiated standards from FM 7-22. Note that scoring standards may be updated by the U.S. Army - always verify with your unit's current ACFT policy for record test purposes. Our ACFT calculator processes everything locally in your browser for complete privacy.
