How Fraction Arithmetic Works
Find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of both fractions. Convert each fraction to an equivalent fraction with the LCD as the denominator. Add the numerators and keep the denominator. Simplify the result. Example: 1/2 + 1/3 → LCD = 6 → 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.
